CULIACÁN, SIN. 19 de Enero de 2015 (LMP/Alpha Comunicación)- El mérito en esta noche fue resistir hasta el  límite; en la serie, ligar tres triunfos al hilo y con todo derecho llegar a la lucha por el título, Los Tomateros de Culiacán vencieron esta noche 9 por 8 a los Águilas de Mexicali en 11 tórridas entradas y se convirtieron en el segundo equipo finalista de la temporada Banorte 2014-2015 de la Liga Mexicana del Pacífico.
Para no variar, emocionante séptimo juego de una serie final que será recordada por la cerrada batalla entre los rivales, final en poder de los guindas cuatro juegos a tres luego de estar 3-1 en contra.
Los Tomateros iniciarán la serie por el campeonato visitando a los Charros de Jalisco el próximo miércoles 21 de Enero, en choque pactado a las 20:30 horas, tiempo local.
Dramático desenlace en ese parte baja de la entrada número once que inició Joey Meneses conectando doblete ante el derrotado Francisco Rodríguez (2-2) y vino el turno de Sergio Omar Gastelum, quien tocó la bola que fildeó el propio lanzador, cuyo tiro fue malo a la inicial y con eso permitió que Meneses anotara la del triunfo.
El juego había iniciado intenso, con ambos equipos explotando a la ofensiva para rápido escribir un empate a tres carreras.
Los Águilas le madrugaron a Salvador Valdez y le hicieron tres rayitas en las dos primeras tandas, toda producto del batazo de poder.
En la segunda, Walter Ibarra llegó a primera en wildpitch al poncharse y anotó con dos outs gracias a cuadrangular a primer pitcheo de Humberto Cota.
En la segunda, abriendo tanda, John Lindsey despachó jonrón por el izquierdo.
Los Tomateros reaccionaron de inmediato y en la parte alta de la tercera cuajaron el empate hilando sencillos de Joey Meneses y Rusell Branyan para que llegara Oscar Robles a sellar la igualada conectando jonrón por todo el prado derecho.
Atacaron los guindas y se fueron adelante en la tercera con ataque de tres anotaciones que llegaron con base a Eric Farris, sencillo de Russell Branyan y cuadrangular de Issmael Salas por el izquierdo ante Javier Solano.
La ventaja guinda creció al 8 por 3 en la cuarta con par de rayitas, una producida por Branyan y la otra aprovechando un pasbol.
Sin embargo, no se rindieron los Águilas y en la quinta se acercaron peligrosamente con tres carreras, producto de cuadrangular de Dave Sappelt con dos en base.
Más drama aún, los Tomateros a un strike de ganar el juego las cosas se empataron a ocho con el segundo jonrón de Sappelt en el juego, batazo en la novena alta ante Oscar Villarreal.
Ambos abridores nada tuvieron que ver en la decisión final luego de que Solano se fue al recibir seis carreras con siete hits en dos un tercio por los Águilas y Salvador Valdez abrió por los Tomateros y se fue sin decisión luego de salir tras tres entradas de cuatro hits, tres anotaciones, una base y tres ponches.
Treinta minutos después de haber concluido el juego, tanto los Charros como los Tomateros estarían seleccionando a un pelotero refuerzo para unirlo a sus respectivos rosters para la serie final.
